GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for the month-end close process and maintenance of all financial records of the Partnership for Public Health (PPH). The Staff Accountant ensures that PPH is utilizing the most modern, technological, and best practices available to perform their work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Close Month End in a Timely and Efficient Manner

Which includes, but is not limited to:

• Prepare and enter recurring and other journal entries as required for month-end and reconciliation purposes
• Assist the Director of Finance & Operations with budget variance analysis and the preparation of financial statements.
• Maintenance of all financial records, audit schedules, general ledger accounts, distribution tables, and chart of accounts.
• Maintenance of data and software system for all fixed assets accounts.
• Responsible for all grant billings monthly, adhering to all reporting requirements.
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly and process adjustments as needed
• Generate reports as needed for the Director of Finance & Operations
• Responsible for Accounts Receivable reconciliation and maintenance of all accounts and payments received.
• Provide support to the Director of Finance & Operations when needed, including but not limited to year-end, annual audits, and budget preparation.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

This position requires:

• Minimum Associates Degree in Accounting (bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Three or more years in non-profit accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and other business accounting and reporting software.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
• Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Personal qualities of high integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the agency.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must pass Criminal Records and Motor Vehicle check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift, up to 15 pounds of various materials on an occasional basis.
• Ability to remain standing or sitting for extended periods of time while performing job-related tasks.
• Pleasant telephone manner, clear speech, respectful personality, and ability to hear adequately to communicate by phone and in person
• Ability to work with frequent interruptions and endure periods of heavy workload or excessive stress.
• Minimal requirement to reach at or above shoulder level; occasional reaching below shoulder level required.

Additional Information: this is a full time benefited position, pay range is $24-26 per hour dependent on experience and education.
