Senior Accountant at Tuohy Furniture Corporation in Chatfield, MN

SUMMARY:

The staff accountant is responsible for leading the monthly and yearly financial close process. Recording journal entries and inventory transactions. Analyzing manufacturing jobs to ensure they are complete and accurate before invoicing and closing. Providing critical financial data to company management and working directly with leadership and coworkers to create efficiencies and enable process improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, reports, and operational reporting of plant

Provide profitability analysis by sales file, product line and/or customer

Process and analyze monthly inventory transactions

Record journal entries and prepare account reconciliations

Manage the accounting for Fixed Assets, including additions, dispositions and recording monthly depreciation

Process and reconcile inventory transactions

Manage and close indirect jobs, allocating expenses appropriately to product lines or expense accounts

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Ability to work independently and to know when to ask for help in resolving specific financial issues. Must be able to work with all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of financial accounting principles and concepts in order to perform tasks listed in Major Duties and Responsibilities above.

Ability to set and meet deadlines including strong ability to manage and perform multiple tasks to completion at the same time.

Knowledge and ability to perform mining of data, analysis, and reporting

Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills required

Proficient with MS Excel, Word and Access.

Strong interpersonal and management skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in a financial discipline from a four year college/university

Manufacturing experience preferred but not required

SALARY: $50,000 - $60,000 per year, based on experience
