We are building our Digital Development team to focus on infrastructure and tools that will improve clinical support, organ delivery logistics, and customer communication, allowing us to scale to meet growing demand and save more lives.

We are seeking a Senior Digital Application Architect to lead back-end development. You will have the opportunity to lead brand new development efforts, designing and building systems from the ground up. ESSENTIAL TASKS AND DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Work collaboratively with other members of the Digital team and outside partners to design and build a secure, HIPAA-compliant, Cloud-based ecosystem of tools and applications to support TransMedics products and logistics operations

• Lead all back-end architecture and development of digital applications (data layer, APIs, business logic, etc.)

• Research third-party tools/platforms to determine fit for integration with TransMedics applications

• Work with front-end developers/teams to design and build efficient, user-friendly, and user-focused tools that will serve TransMedics team members and our customers

• Oversee partner development teams, performing code reviews and providing technical direction as needed

• Collaborate with IT, Security, and DevOps on design of infrastructure to support digital tools and applications and ensure security and compliance with all relevant regulations

• Keep up with latest development trends, always focusing on how to build a better mousetrap, without having to start from scratch every time

• Help to set code standards, choose libraries/frameworks in use, and evaluate tools and process improvements to ensure quality of code and optimal workflow

• Produce and review documentation for internal use and regulatory purposes

• Provide application layer support as a member of a rotating on-call team

• Participate in evaluation and interviewing of other potential developer candidates

• Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned

BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other relevant field; or equivalent professional experience

• 10+ years’ experience designing and building high availability, high performance digital applications

• Expert understanding of one or more back-end programming languages such as Java, .NET, Kotlin, C#, etc.

• Expertise in data architecture, database design, and data migration. Hands-on experience working with enterprise RDMBS’s such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, etc.

• Experience designing for and deploying in Cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure)

• Ability to configure and maintain build tools and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Github, Gitflow, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.

• Strong knowledge of information security concepts and technologies

• Independent and thorough troubleshooting capabilities, with an ability to assist other developers in working through thorny problems

• Comfortable working in Agile development models and collaborating with Product and Design teams

• Experience working within healthcare (or other regulated industries) and/or past experience building HIPAA-compliant applications a plus

• Successful track record of working in high-growth and dynamic organizations with an ability to effectively manage day-to-day activities across multiple projects

• Demonstrated record of curiosity, innovation, and creative problem solving with an entrepreneurial spirit

• Must be reliable, a self-starter, able to work Independently, as well as work collaboratively

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience contributing to project documentation, and a proven ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
