About the role
This varied and interesting role is part of our Underwriting support career progression and offers a great opportunity to act as an individual contributor within the Underwriting Support Unit of our field operations. As well as assisting our underwriters by screening risk offerings, and with pre and post binding processes, you’ll also get involved in problem solving or research projects that will make the most of your broad insurance and/or procedural knowledge.

Other key responsibilities will include:

Act as a first point of call for brokers, plus all Underwriting Assistants in the region

Play your part in a range of quality control activities

Establish effective relationships with internal and external customers

Train and provide oversight of less experienced support staff.

Issue policies, endorsements, and cancellations; prepare policy writing instructions and premium billings, and process individual policy filings.
What we’re looking for
As well as proven relevant experience and knowledge, you’ll need the ability to prioritize while navigating and switching between multiple proprietary, vendor, web-based and standard computer systems. The leadership skills it takes to mentor peers in the team are important too, as is a willingness to learn from experiences and new situations, plus the ability to anticipate client (internal and external) needs and act proactively. You’ll also need:

3+ years of insurance experience required.

Knowledge of commercial insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements.

An in-depth understanding of coverages and program structures, as well as internal policy coding systems to ensure account completeness.

Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation is maintained.

Ideally, a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
