Are you comfortable working independently or under limited supervision? Then come and help us rethink insurance at AIG and see how far your career could take you.
Rethink insurance with AIG
This is a pivotal time to join us at AIG, a leading global insurance organization built on 100 years of experience. We are reimagining how we help business customers to manage risk, transforming our operating model, and reshaping our role responsibilities and career pathways. The goal is to unlock the full potential in each colleague – empowering our people to grow as insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG. It’s time to rethink how far your career could take you.
Get to know the business
General Insurance is a leading provider of insurance products and services for commercial and personal insurance customers. It includes one of the world’s most far-reaching property casualty networks. General Insurance offers a broad range of products to customers through a diversified, multichannel distribution network.
About the role
This varied and interesting role is part of our Underwriting support career progression and offers a great opportunity to act as an individual contributor within the Underwriting Support Unit of our field operations. As well as assisting our underwriters by screening risk offerings, and with pre and post binding processes, you’ll also get involved in problem solving or research projects that will make the most of your broad insurance and/or procedural knowledge.
What you need to know
Other key responsibilities will include:
  • Act as a first point of call for brokers, plus all Underwriting Assistants in the region
  • Play your part in a range of quality control activities
  • Establish effective relationships with internal and external customers
  • Train and provide oversight of less experienced support staff.
  • Issue policies, endorsements, and cancellations; prepare policy writing instructions and premium billings, and process individual policy filings.
What we’re looking for
As well as proven relevant experience and knowledge, you’ll need the ability to prioritize while navigating and switching between multiple proprietary, vendor, web-based and standard computer systems. The leadership skills it takes to mentor peers in the team are important too, as is a willingness to learn from experiences and new situations, plus the ability to anticipate client (internal and external) needs and act proactively. You’ll also need:
  • 3+ years of insurance experience required.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements.
  • An in-depth understanding of coverages and program structures, as well as internal policy coding systems to ensure account completeness.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
  • Ideally, a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Veterans are encouraged to apply.
