Sr. Cloud Engineer (Remote)

The Hartford is looking to hire a Sr. Cloud Engineer who identifies, drives and assists in the implementation of services to standardize cloud environment. Designs reusable architectures and services that can be leveraged by agile teams to improve development velocity. Delivers the tooling and capabilities needed to enable cloud compliance, metrics and reporting and cost management roadmap and strategy. Partner with the architecture team in the development of cloud application architecture enabling the cloud native solutions. Guide and develop programmable immutable Infrastructure as code. Advises on systems scalability and development opportunities that can be utilized or adapted to meet business needs. Relentlessly research and present forward opportunities to enhance operational and engineering excellence within the teams. Leverages tools, software and processes to monitor networks and systems to guarantee SLAs and improve orchestration and provisioning of resources. Provide senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprises overall cloud strategy, consumption and optimization opportunities. Influence and champion technical decisions to enable The Hartford’s technology transformation. Work closely with the CIO teams, Enterprise Data Office, Solutions and Enterprise Architecture and IoT teams to design simple solutions that deliver business outcomes. Demonstrate strong sense of ownership and demonstrate bias for action.

Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of Cloud Platforms
  • 5+ years of software development or data engineering experience and best practices.
  • 3+ years of developing and operating production workloads in cloud infrastructure.
  • Proven experience with SDLC and knowledge of agile and iterative methodologies and toolsets.
  • Translates business requirements into design and operationalization of cloud solutions, adhering to the principles, patterns and guardrails established by the enterprise architecture.
  • A practical understanding of DevSecOps and Agile methodologies
  • Exposure to AWS cross account code promotion best practices.
  • Knowledge of core functional components and services of AWS, compute, storage, Edge, Database, Migration and Transfer, Networking, and Governance.
  • Proven ability to work with cross functional teams and translate requirements between teams
  • Leader and a team player with excellent communication skills and a transformation mindset and ability to communicate at all levels.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of CloudFormation or Terraform is highly desirable.
  • Cloud certification or willingness to attain certification.
  • Experience with AWS security best practices and posture management IAM, policies and maintaining regulatory requirements with third party tools.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$130,480 - $195,720
