Job Description :

Position: Store Team Member – Back End 1.0 FTE, Non-exempt

Summary: Store team members work with staff members and Habitat volunteers to provide retail customer service, pick-up and move donated merchandise, drive the box truck, and process donations. Proceeds from the Habitat Store help build and repair affordable homes in East Jefferson County.

Responsibilities:
As a valued Team member, you will work closely with other volunteers and teammates to help accomplish daily tasks, support the day-to-day retail operations, and participate in store projects. This position is 32 to 40 hours per week; days of work are Tuesday through Saturday.

Furniture Delivery and Pick-ups - 70 % time

  • Provide outstanding service to customers and donors
  • Drive and operate a 20 ft. box truck safely
  • Use of a lift gate safely
  • Schedule donation pick-ups
  • Respond to customer donation request emails and phone calls
  • Assist with pick-ups of donations and deliveries of furniture
  • Follow donation guidelines in accepting donations
  • Screen and examine each donation, exercising discretion regarding acceptance and disposition of donated goods
  • Assist reviewing incoming drop off donations from customers vehicle
  • Clean and test donations
  • Organize donations into product category within the donation storage areas
  • Maintain donor relationships through attentive customer service

Retail Operations - 30% time

  • Move and stage merchandise (including furniture) on, off, and around sales floors to maintain integrity of the store’s displays. When items are sold back fill the space
  • Process sales using the POS and balance the till at the end of each day
  • Price items according to the Pricing Guideline
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by following Store and safety policies
  • Support, train and coach volunteers
  • Greet and assist customers; carry items to the front desk that customers are purchasing
  • Identify issues and solutions to solve them
  • Follow Habitat for Humanity operational policies and procedures

Position Requirements:

  • Support and endorse the Habitat for Humanity mission
  • Excellent communication skills required, together with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers and donors
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to drive a box truck (will train if necessary), and insurable driving record
  • Ability to deliver legendary customer service and connect with store customers
  • Strong organization skills and desire to keep a clean and tidy work environment
  • First-Aid/CPR certification (will train if needed)
  • Be able to spend a minimum of 75% of the workday being physically active
  • Able to lift 50 to 100 lbs. with minimal to no assistance
  • Able to go up and down stairs multiple times a day
  • Able to frequently move about the store and other building areas to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Able to carry objects and goods to customer cars, approximately 100 yards
  • Able to help load furniture items into customer cars
  • Able to use MS Teams, MS Excel and MS Word
  • Ability to enter information into a POS
  • Ability to use a GPS and follow navigational instructions

Salary and benefits:
Hiring Range is $15.83 to $22.16 per hour. Benefits include paid medical, vision and dental insurance for the employee, 401K with employer match (4%), holidays (10), sick time and three weeks of vacation annually.
