Animal Farm Pet Hospital is located at 5601 Mission Street, San Francisco. We treat all kinds of dogs and cats; big and small! We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our wonderful staff that prides themselves in hard work and constant communication.

You will be primarily responsible for assisting the doctors in exams as well as helping other technicians with procedures such as surgeries, treatments, and services. Client communication and education is what everyone strives for in this hospital because we want to help our clients better understand their beloved pets.

Responsibilities and Duties of Veterinary assistant:

-Support our Doctors and Technicians
-Getting the thorough history and updating to Doctors
-Assist with exams, safe patient restraint, assisting with various procedures (setup, break down, and collection of samples, etc.)
-Assist techs and doctors with hospitalized pets (drawing up injections, giving oral meds, setting up IV fluids, etc.)
-Prepare vaccines and administer them subcutaneously
-Perform laboratory work and help assist with diagnostic imaging
-Be the extra hands, ears and eyes for the veterinary technicians

Responsibilities and Duties of Receptionist:

-Greeting our clients in a friendly manner

-Answering phone calls, emails in a timely manner

-Checking in / checking out patients/clients

-Collecting the payments

-Preparing the medication when clients need refills

-Creating/updating the client files

-Maintain the reception / lobby always clean

Qualifications and Skills

-6 months to 1 year experience of working in a veterinary hospital will be a plus.
-Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
-Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses. (Our team can guide you.)
-Use of computer software such as Word, AVImark (we can teach you along the way), Excel, etc
-Punctual and reliable

Our Hours:

Monday to Friday 8 am-8 Pm

Saturdays 9am-7pm

Sundays 9am to 6pm

Pay will depend on experience.
