The opportunity to drive strategic initiatives, work collaboratively in a leadership role while overseeing the accounting functions of the credit union are just some of the things that will keep you busy making a very big impact here as our VP of Accounting.

What the Job Looks Like

Day to day you’ll plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee all accounting activities of the credit union, ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations and laws.

  • Direct the functions of the Accounting Department including financial analysis, internal and regulatory reporting, cash management, fixed assets, accounts payable, payroll, and account reconcilement.
  • Budget development and forecasting, monitoring performance against projections and other key metrics.
  • Serve as Chairperson of the Asset-Liability Management Committee (ALCO). Provide detailed ALCO and investment reports to the committee. Update ALCO and Investment policies in accordance with NCUA rules and regulations.
  • Evaluate team performance and provide mentorship, coaching, and training to ensure quality work and service to our members.
  • Maintain and update relevant policies to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Attend Board meetings to report on accounting and financial performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Regular interaction with auditors and examiners, providing requested information in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly NCUA call report.
  • Manage the investment portfolio in conjunction with the CEO.
  • Along with the CEO, administer employee benefit plans.
  • Participate in the strategic planning process.

Important Qualifications to your Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline – Master’s degree or CPA Preferred
  • 10 years’ experience preferably in a bank or credit union.
  • Minimum 5 years’ supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Outstanding analytical and mathematical.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with a variety of audiences including board members and employees.
  • A passion for leadership and collaboration.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
