Vice President of Finance

Bast Fibre Technologies produces technical natural fibres that make it possible to replace plastic in many consumer products. Our sero™ hemp and linen fibres enable manufacturers to create natural consumer products with a circular, soil-to-soil lifecycle. We are looking for a results-driven Vice President of Finance who will report to the Chief Financial Officer, playing a key role in supporting the growth of Bast Fibre Technologies as a key part of the Finance leadership team.

This leader will be responsible for working with other functional leaders in Bast to support our expansion strategy. They must posses strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills.

The VP Finance will play a lead role in the development and implementation of modern accounting systems and processes. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned financial professional with a proven record of successful leadership and efficient performance.

This is an in-office position in our Greenville, SC office and may require occasional business-related travel.

The VP of Finance will:

• Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance team
• Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality and timeliness.
• Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting of all entities
• Develop and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
• Establish robust product costing methodology in conjunction with the Leadership Team
• Drive the financial planning analysis process, including budgeting, & forecasting
• Maintain oversight of tax and treasury planning activities, proactively seeking opportunities for effective tax structuring and efficient cash management.
• Oversee implementation of accounting modules of Dynamics ERP System and transition away from current accounting software.
• In conjunction with senior management, develop, implement and maintain internal reports to support internal and external stakeholder needs.
• Serves as a consultant to business unit leaders regarding financial and accounting matters of significance.
• Managing global transfer pricing coordination.
• Manage periodic financial reports, including preparation and coordination of audited financial statements.
• Coordinating all work and interaction with external auditors.
• Represent the organization in banking and lease negotiations.
• Complying with local, provincial, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

• Passion for development of processes and procedures: ability to build and implement best-in-class processes and understand key operational business drivers to support company growth objectives.
• Experience in leading an ERP implementation
• Strong leadership attributes and can get things done, make timely decisions, act with integrity, and build positive working relations at all levels, internally and externally.
• Competency in MS Office suite applications
• Advanced Excel required
• Good working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Sharepoint
• Experience with Power BI strongly preferred
• Ability to adapt to a variety of accounting software, particularly QuickBooks and Microsoft Dynamics
• A four-year degree in Accounting or a related field and an advanced degree or certification (CPA)
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in finance, with at least 2+ of those in a senior management role (director level or higher)
