Job Description :

A growing Central Arizona consumer products manufacturer is seeking a VP of Finance to oversee the financial functions of the company. This individual will direct and oversee preparation of current financial reports and summaries, create budgets and forecasts, ensure tax compliance in all jurisdictions and maintain the Company’s accounting system.

Reporting Relationships: This role reports to the CEO.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Act as partner to the CEO and COO, the Board, and management providing insight, advice, and acting as a sounding board on key opportunities and issues as they arise.
  • Work with CEO and COO in setting agenda and processes for the leadership team.
  • Actively participate in, and often lead, leadership team calls and meetings and together with CEO and COO guide the business to successful achievement of annual and strategic plans.
  • Provide financial leadership for the business and maintain an excellent relationship with the Board to ensure expectations and understanding of the financial objectives and performance remain aligned at all times.
  • Support the CEO and COO as required in updates to the Board, including preparing business summaries and attending the latter with the CEO and COO as required.
  • Take an active role in presenting company plans and performance to wider leadership team and all stakeholders

Strategy, Planning and Management

  • Lead the strategic and annual planning processes, working with the leadership team to develop and refine strategic objectives and tactical plans.
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide insight and recommendations for both the short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization.
  • Create alignment on yearly financial objectives that are a stretch, but achievable and align with the Group’s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Ensure the implementation of policies, procedures, and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team.

M&A

  • Take a lead role in the analysis of M&A opportunities, working with the CEO and Board to engage with and analyze target’s potential.
  • Coordinate with outside Project Management resources and leadership team to develop robust M&A integration plans as required.

Business Growth and Development

  • Work with leadership team to review and challenge capital investment plans and then present them to the Board in a way that is clear and compelling.
  • Take lead role in driving change management through the business to drive optimal outcomes.

Team Management

  • Mentor and develop team, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.
  • Guide larger, cross-functional teams outside of direct span of control.
  • Recruit, interview and hire direct reports as required.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Ensure that the financial budgets and forecasts are appropriately prepared, challenged, and reviewed and that they are setting the right level of challenge for the business.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and guide the business to take actions from this to continually improve performance.
  • Lead the finance team in the reporting of monthly and annual results to the Board and support the CEO and COO in presenting the same to the Board.
  • Continue to develop FP&A as a value adding partner to the business, helping identify, develop, and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new business.

Accounting & Control

  • As executive in charge, take ultimate ownership for the financial robustness and controls of the business, and Control to ensure the following:
  • financial results are reported accurately according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and on a timely basis; free from error.
  • Business is supported by appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • all local, state and federal tax returns are filed on a timely and accurate basis
  • Month end close process is appropriately reviewed and controlled
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.

Financial Management

  • Guide cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
  • Oversee cash, investments, and asset management area, working with the business to ensure appropriate approvals are in place for all significant expenditures
  • Explore new opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
  • Maintain working relationships with banks, vendors and business partners.
  • Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.

Legal, governance and regulatory

  • Oversee key legal matters for the business, utilizing Board expertise and working with CEO when matters require Board notification/involvement.o Act as key point of contact for CEO and Board to ensure that appropriate governance is in place over key decisions, KPIs are in place and monitored for performance, and policies are understood and adhered to by colleagues.
  • Oversee cash, investments and asset management area, working with the business to ensure appropriate approvals are in place for all significant expenditures.
  • Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
  • Take a lead role in sensitive, compliance, or legal issues.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required

· Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred

· Certified Public Accountant designation preferred

Professional Experience:

· Eight to ten years of experience in financial management required.

· At least 1+ year at the VP of Finance level preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:

· Financial Foresight: The ability to anticipate financial management issues and address them.

· Excellent Communication Skills: Written and oral communication skills are an essential, must be able to effectively communicate the financial health of the company to all stakeholders.

· Vision: In tune with the market, enabling creation and implementation of business plans for the company and aligning them with the ‘bigger picture’ of the company’s future.

· Perspective on Risk: The foresight to take calculated risks to grow the business and improve the financial position of the company.

· Accounting & Financial Competence: Considered a subject matter expert in all things accounting and financial.

· Leadership Skills: Will be an integral member of the company leadership, must demonstrate seasoned leadership skills to all employees and colleagues.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 per year
