Job Description: The project manager (PM) is responsible for leading project-based job results, specifically regarding delivery of the product under budget and on-time. This is accomplished by leading the development, execution, and monitoring of daily/weekly plans that successfully support overall project objectives. Assist the production manager and workstation leads in mitigation strategies as soon as variances from schedule are identified.
Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:

· Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of the designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within time frame and budget.
· Responsible for meeting or exceeding the customer’s realistic expectations for quality, productivity, and safety on the project, and manages the customer relationship through any changes in the scope of work and price of the project to assure continuing customer satisfaction and profitable project closure.
· Able to delegate responsibilities between Assistant Project Managers assigned directly to the Project Manager.
· As the top decision maker on the project, resolves any internal issues that arise over the productive and safe management of the project.
· Responsible for monitoring and controlling project performance and making course corrections where necessary to meet project schedule, cost, quality, and safety goals. PM is accountable for all project performance reporting.
· PM is responsible for project close-out, including ensuring conclusion of all supplier purchase orders and final invoices on behalf of the company are complete.
· Responsible for the decision to make or buy a product or service for the project under their direction.
· Leads department heads in resolving any issues and eliminating barriers that may compromise the successful completion of the plan and elevates those issues they are unable to resolve.
· Resolves issues on a day-to-day basis with customers, owners, and representatives. Represents the company fairly and consistently when interacting with customers.
· Manages subcontracted production labor through subcontractor's onsite supervisors.
· Responsible for coordinating supervisors and tradesmen in prioritizing activities/jobs to meet or exceed schedule needs.
· Interprets specifications, plans project sequencing, and coordinates the various phases of the project to prevent delays and avoid rework. Ensures that work orders are properly written and approves them before submittal to the customer.
· Understands, implements, and enforces company and departmental policies/procedures, and necessary code compliance per applicable project requirements.
· Provides motivation, support and guidance to all employees.
· Communicates any problems or obstacles to senior management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Project management experience with refits or new builds on luxury recreational vessels preferred.
· Project management experience with planning and contract execution for repairs, maintenance, and/or construction of government vessels also accepted.
· Demonstrated problem solving strengths; ability to resolve any issues and solve problems throughout project lifecycle, including scheduling conflicts.
· Ability to multitask – supervise multiple projects at the same time.
· Owning project results and look for continuous improvement opportunities.
· Strong analytical and organizational skills, detail oriented, with excellent verbal and written skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written for constant interaction with all departments, employee levels and outside customers.
· Ability to read and comprehend work specifications, work orders, blueprints, contracts and technical publications.
· Ability to handle the pressure of constant interruptions.
· Ability to use PC and software applications such as MS Office, Excel, and database programs.
· Excellent project management skills.
· Ability to understand and administer all shipyard classification guidelines in relation to government and commercial requirements for all trades.
· Ability to apply continuous improvement strategies across all functions, which includes the ability to introduce the need for change, create excitement for change, and lead change initiatives.
· Physically able to perform essential job responsibilities.
· Strong knowledge of the project and ship systems as relating to how they interact and construction/repair sequencing. Uses a systems approach to work planning and execution.
· Builds customer confidence, sets achievable customer expectations, assumes responsibility for solving customer problems, ensures commitments to customers are met.
Experience and Qualifications:
· Four-year college or university degree in Business or Maritime related field; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five to ten years’ experience at a shipyard, marine equipment supplier, vessel owner/operator is desired. This includes similar military experience dealing with ship repair.
· Experience successfully managing the execution of complex projects on luxury yachts.
· In depth knowledge of all business functions associated with shipyard trades, safety, and management.
· Demonstrated success in planning, staffing, coordinating and profitably executing multi-trade, extensive, labor-intensive, multi-phased projects.
· Must have some experience and knowledge of production procedures, areas of ship repair and administrative procedures.
