ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER – Job Description

Position Overview:

Morris Construction Management, LLC is a full service General Contractor and Construction Management company, located in Montville, New Jersey. Providing construction services for both “in-house” development projects as well as third party developers and project owners primarily in the greater NY/NJ area.

Morris Construction Management is looking to expand its project management staff with the addition of an Assistant Project Manager (APM). The Assistant Project Manager will serve in a supporting role to the Senior Project Manager, assisting in managing all aspects of the construction process for assigned projects. The APM will report directly to the Senior Project Manager.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Aid in plan review with professionals and trades
  • Create, manage, and track the approved Construction Schedule
  • Coordinate efforts across entire project between architects, designers, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Coordinate RFI’s from design team professionals and trades
  • Coordinate and track product and system submittals from trades to professionals.
  • Manage all subcontractor trades and “in-house” labor.
  • Review individual trades Scopes of Work based on plans and specifications
  • Obtain All Permits required for construction
  • Work with Government agencies, and public utilities as required for installations and required inspections.
  • Review budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
  • Manage costs in order to meet budget
  • Issue weekly and monthly progress updates regarding schedule and any cost overruns.
  • Log daily work reports in Procore. The company project tracking software.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly construction meetings with all trades to maintain scope, schedule, and budget integrity.
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes

Qualifications for Construction Project Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture
  • 5+ years of experience in project management in the construction industry
  • 4+ years of multifamily building experience
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software
  • Familiar with construction management software, such as Procore
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles
  • Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs
  • High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, outside agencies and project vendors.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills, demonstrated “team” player

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
