We are currently seeking a motivated and driven Business Development Manager, who has the ability to maintain and grow assigned accounts as well as prospect for new accounts.

Location: Home Office with ability to travel up to 50+% of the time (domestic).

Skills/Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge of thermoplastic materials and compounds, and thermoplastic material shaping techniques including extrusion, compression and injection molding.
  • Knowledge of key served markets and applications and ability to distill performance requirements to effectively position products and drive material specifications.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication and matrix management skills.
  • Self-starter with the drive and passion to succeed.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, analytical skills.
  • Customer focused driven to deliver results.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50+% of the time (domestic).
  • Able to work in fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills include MS Office Suite and database knowledge.
  • Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM system.


Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in materials, polymer science, chemistry or relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of sales, account management or similar commercial experience in a customer-facing environment

Job Activities

  • Responsible for developing and managing relationships with current and prospective Westlake Plastics direct and indirect customers including distributors, fabricators, and OEM/material specifiers.
  • Managing geographic territory for efficiency and effectiveness to meet short term budget revenue targets realization and revenue forecasting.
  • In parallel, expand the portfolio of business development prospects and targets to deliver long term growth.
  • Present Westlake Plastics products and capabilities to recommend initial customer solutions and then work with marketing, sales, and product development teams to manage application development projects at the customer level assuring their progression to commercialization.
  • Participate in tradeshows and industry events to create brand awareness and develop new BD opportunities.
  • Monitor market conditions and competitive intelligence in assigned territory to inform tactical and strategic business planning activities.
  • Managing business travel for reasonable cost to cover the geographic area.
