THE POSITION
This position is on MoFi’s lending team. This team is customer-centric, flexible, knowledgeable, cross-trained, transparent, and efficient. Their goal is underwrite risk, help clients have a seamless lending process, and ultimately assist borrowers in becoming bankable. The Commercial Lender is responsible for underwriting, credit presentations, closings, renewals, and disbursements to MoFi’s business loan applicants and clients. The Commercial Lender manages the credit analysts, and the position has strong upward mobility potential within MoFi’s lending team. This position reports to the Director of Lending.
JOB DUTIES
This position works with applicants and the senior credit officer during the underwriting process, and approval and closing. The position also works with active loan clients to assist in loan modifications and loan disbursements. Detailed job duties include:
1. Manage risk underwriting of applicants including financial, character, and structuring risk of the loan request.
2. Prepare and present loan memos for approval with loan committees.
3. Oversee the closing process including term sheets, document preparation, and title work.
4. Prescribe the ‘Path to Bankability’ for the client and work with the consulting team to hand off the client after closing.
5. Maintain accurate and complete records in MoFi’s loan database.
6. Oversee the process and underwriting for debt modifications.
7. Review all draw requests and oversee draw procedures.
8. Supervision and manage credit analysts
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree
· 2+ years of experience as a credit analyst or loan officer in a financial institution
· Good understanding of business taxes and financial statements
· Good understanding of credit risk underwriting
· Detail oriented with an emphasis on accuracy
· Enjoys learning, problem solving, and collaboration
· Good customer service and communication skills
· Fluent in Spanish preferred but not a requirement for the position
· Familiarity with Salesforce preferred but not a requirement for the position
· Strong computer skills
