The position of Accounting Supervisor is within our Cardiometabolic/Finance located in Charlottesville, VA. This role will be under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller, the position consolidates global financials and provides financial results and business planning, reporting, analysis, and decision-making support to business unit leadership, engineering, operations, and corporate accounting groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage a team of 4 accounting and invoicing personnel
• Lead global P&L review monthly including qualitative and quantitative variance analysis, outlook vs. run rate, trends, developments, issues, risks/opportunities, and expense analysis
• Participate and lead analytic projects supporting strategy and business operations
• Manage the RCE capitalization processes for Engineering development of Internally Developed Software held for Sale (IDSHFS)
• Organize operational time tracking inputs to defer project costs and analyze individual contract margins
• Develop tactical and strategic insights based on results of data analyses
• Ensure effective internal controls, enforcing policies/procedures that comply with US GAAP, SOX, and company policies
• Assist in quarterly and yearly audit work
• Oversee the posting and consolidation of global transactions during monthly closing process
• Manage the intercompany process by providing direction and support to the intercompany accountant for all intercompany transactions and events. Resolve disconnects by escalating at the partner divisions
• Create global business unit performance and spend reports to review monthly with Senior Leadership
• Work with business leaders to generate global spend budgets and LBE forecasts
• Assess and recommend spend reduction opportunities
• Review general ledger accounts monthly and ensure proper support is provided in the Balance Sheet Reconciliations
• Complete special projects and ad hoc work as appropriate

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:

• BS in Accounting, Business, or related field Required
• Masters in Accounting or MBA preferred
• CPA a plus
• 5 years of accounting and/or finance experience
• 2+ years of supervisory experience
• Advanced level of proficiency with Excel (e.g. Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, other Excel functionalities)

• Strong analytical skills, conceptual thinking, ability to analyze and problem solve with incomplete or ambiguous data

Computer Skills

• Advanced proficiency with financial systems and tools (Excel, SAP, Business Warehouse, Hyperion, Access)

Other Skills and Abilities

• Ability to mentor and lead a team
• Advanced financial accounting proficiency (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability supporting internal and external financial audit reviews
• A strong business acumen is required with the ability to highlight business trends
• In-depth understanding of financial analysis techniques and the ability to work effectively across multiple functions of the organization
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and use sound judgment
• Possess effective planning and organizational skills and very strong demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to strengthen strategic knowledge of businesses and identify opportunities to leverage best practices and ensure decisions are based on overall effectiveness and utility
• Openness and ability to learn from others, provide coaching and mentoring, and apply knowledge in a strategic manner
• Ability to present financial data and concepts to management and non-financial resources

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
