Job Description :

The Madeira School is seeking an Medical Assistant/LPN to join its Health and Wellness Center. The Nurse will provide preventative health services to facilitate the students’ physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development. This position runs with the school year. Includes some holidays.

Core responsibilities include:

Medical Assistant:

  • Handles the administrative needs of the Health and Wellness Center
  • Maintains and updates files and filing system
  • Maintains clinical records
  • Arranges appointments and transportation for student appointments; ensures appropriate charges are in place
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in conjunction with the Director of Nursing
  • Greets and directs visitors; checks students in and out of the Health Center
  • Assists with laundry as needed
  • Assists with general administrative tasks

LPN:

  • Integrates knowledge, skills, and clinical experience to meet the needs of high school students, their families, and the community
  • Utilizes standards and guidelines for care delivery
  • Provides individualized patient care; serves as clinical resource
  • Reinforces preventive health and nutrition education
  • Provide emergency aid to students as needed
  • Administer routine medication and medical treatment
  • Coordinates care for students with outside medical professionals
  • Drives student to off-campus medical care appointments as needed; acts as the student’s advocate; serves as the liaison between the provider and the student/student’s family
  • Uses and adapts to a wide array of technology as tools to support the Health and Wellness Program; actively updates computer and software skills
  • Provides courteous and appropriate communication with students, parents, faculty and staff
  • Active and positive member of the broader school community, building relationships across departments and supporting the Residential Life program

Note: Physical demands of this job include: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant finger dexterity. This job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Requirements:

  • Degree from accredited school of nursing
  • LPN in Virginia or multi-state privilege
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certified
  • Adolescent/Triage experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Ability to work in both the well-child area as well as the area for students with health concerns which may include COVID-19
  • Ability to innovate, problem solve and think creatively
  • Ability to use and adapt to a wide-array of technology as tools to support the Health and Wellness Program; familiarity with Magnus Health a plus
  • Assist in being a practitioner of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Uphold the School’s professional standards including punctuality, courtesy and discretion
  • Ability to support the residential program through weekend on call duty
