The Business Process and Digitization (BP&D) team supports the transformation efforts of BMO's Personal and Business Banking segment. The BP&D team is relentless at transforming processes to unlock value, delivering improvements that contribute to bottom and top line growth, maintaining the tools and systems that enable day-to-day operations, and managing and mitigating risks.
We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team of individuals driving transformation. Our team's focus is primarily on the intersection of fraud prevention and mitigation across all customer channels (e.g., branches, online, contact centers, operations centres); and as the team evolves, will have a broader enterprise-wide focus. This position will support the writing of standard operating procedures for the lines of businesses we support. The position is well suited for curious individuals who want to be a in a process improvement environment, who are curious about how things are done, and are comfortable asking questions.
Job Responsibilities
Technical Writing
Collaborates with business partners to understand key Operating Processes ("The What"), and creates Standard Operating Procedures ("The How") that provide step-by-step instructions on how to perform the process
Interprets process maps and documentation and translates them into standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Facilitates structured meetings with stakeholders to collect requirements and create SOPs
Asks questions to both learn and challenge how SOPS are documented in a polite and respectful way
Develops and maintains a set of SOPs
Continuously finds opportunities to improve, consolidate, or eliminate (where appropriate) existing SOPs
Ensures SOPs are clear, concise, and user-friendly
Ensures SOPs meet established standards and adhere to applicable risk, regulatory, internal controls and compliance requirements
Procedure Library Management
Maintains the library of SOPs using Microsoft Office tools such as excel, SharePoint Lists, or other
Ensures the library is up to date and lack of errors
Maintains a schedule of recurring reviews based on risk management
Relationship Building and Stakeholder Management
Develops an understanding of the BP&D's organizational structure, and proactively builds relationships with key stakeholders
Proactively meets with stakeholders to report on work in progress
Identifies opportunities to align stakeholders and drive consensus across conflicting opinions
Broader accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
3 years of relevant experience writing procedures and documentation
3 years of experience achieving competing priorities in a tight-deadline environment and working independently
Expert use of Word, Adobe Pro, Excel, Visio
Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
