Manpower Engineering is seeking a Process Metallurgist in a casting area for our client in the Owensboro, KY area. Direct hire position with excellent relocation package.

Summary

The purpose of this role is to hold, improve and transfer knowledge of processes and quality, responsible for process improvement & assurance, support product implementation, define and start up new investments and processes. The key responsibility is to develop and implement all process and quality settings to ensure a robust process that delivers right first time quality.

Key Deliverables:

• Products and materials
  o General metallurgical knowledge about the products produced in the plant
  o Detailed knowledge on thermo-mechanical & physical processing for casting.
  o Understanding of quality assurance and systems

• New product implementation
  o Support Product Technology or to the R&D implementation department to ensure fast and robust introduction of new specifications or products.
  o Checks and refreshes the installation bible(s) and capabilities.

• Investments
  o Start up and commissioning support of new instillations and processes
  o Detects the need for new investments or processes to improve quality or robustness.
  o Defines process requirements, prepares and follows up the startup of, and verifies results from new investments or processes.

• Assigned area systems knowledge:
  o Determined based on area of focus
  o Specific controls systems
  o Automation, mechanical and electrical specialties for area

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree minimum in Metallurgical, Chemical or Materials Engineering
• Quality assurance and/or quality systems experience
• Technical and process management skills are needed in this position, with potential ability to work multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong decision making and problem-solving skills including the ability to solve problems while exhibiting practical judgment and realistic understanding of the issues involved
• Ability to overcome obstacles and find reasonable resolutions to situations on a case-by-case basis as encountered
• Has knowledge of all processes of assigned installation - Mechanical & hydraulics, Chemical, Physical, Electrical & controls, Measurement systems, IT platforms (level 1- 3), and thermo-mechanical processing capabilities
• Aluminum casting experience preferred
• Experience in a union environment preferred
