Primary Responsibilities

Independently undertake design projects and engineering studies. Utilize a range of computers and computer software for developing detailed designs and developing engineering models. Undertake complex calculations. Liaison with clients and a variety of professionals including surveyors, architects and contractors. Resolve design and development problems. Manage project budgets and project resources. Ensure projects comply with design standards and design guidelines. Assess the sustainability and environmental impact of projects.

Below is a breakdown of specific and typical tasks:

• Prepare drawings, maps and details for construction projects. Correlate and interpret data obtained from topographical surveys in order to draw maps, diagrams, profiles and cross-sections to represent elevations, topographical contours and structures. 70%
• Participate in the writing of technical reports. Produce maps, sketches and photo portfolios and other visual and graphic displays for such technical reports. 10%
• Participate in job site inspections, field surveys and various field testing. Job site inspections may include observations at construction sites. Field surveys may include using survey equipment and may require sketches and other note taking to describe field conditions. Field testing may include conduction percolation tests on soil or other standard civil engineering tests. 5%
• Finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packages, according to required mediums and specifications for reproduction. Organize and store drawings electronically. 5%
• Participate in on-the-job training to continue your education on current engineering standards and methods. Seek relevant information on emerging technologies such as computer systems and software in order to advance the company’s ability to perform in today’s changing business environment. 5%
• Other duties as required. 5%

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
