The Education & Training program Coordinator (ETPC) is responsible for the implementation of the specified education and training programs, curricula development, and community engagement. Using a public health approach, the Education & Training Program Coordinator (ETPC) provides sexual health education and training programs by 1) effectively educating and training, 2) facilitating skills building and discussion sessions for youth, young adults, families and service providers, 3) engaging with stakeholders, coalitions and networks, and 4) coordinating outreach efforts.

Compensation: Starting rate of pay is $25.00 or more depending upon experience. Annual step increases are determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Bilingual premium pay is $1.61 per hour.

Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hours). Exact schedule will be discussed during the interview process.

Location: Ontario, OR. This position will be based in Ontario, OR and will be expected to visit locations in and around our new health center located there. On-site office will be located in that Health Center with potentially flexible work-from-home schedule some days per week. Details will be discussed in the interview process.

Position Details: This is a union represented, hourly (non exempt) position. PPCW complies with all Federal and State Covid-19 Vaccine Mandates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Health Education, Sexuality, Education, Social Science discipline or related field. Similar training and experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in education programs leading classroom and/or large youth and adult groups in health-related topics.
  • One (1) year experience providing professional development training, and content and instructional material design and development.Any combination of education and relevant experience that qualifies the individual to perform the essential functions of the job may substitute for the above.
  • Experience finding and navigating resources as they pertain to education, public health, and social services, as a means to connect community members to resources and services.
  • Ability to build relationships with organizations and stakeholders.
  • Skills and ability to quickly learn virtual teaching, content design, social media, tracking and reporting tools.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, have access to a reliable automobile, and maintain proof of personal automobile liability insurance, at a minimum, in the amount required by Oregon Law (ORS Chapter 806).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with BIPOC communities, immigrant/refugee communities, young man, LGBTQS+, systems impacted youth, neurodivergent youth, English language learners, and/or youth with disabilities.
  • Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), Vietnamese, Russian, or Arabic language proficiency: speaking, listening and writing.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and implement sexual health education, curricula and programs in various settings with groups that may include youth, young adults, families, community groups and agencies throughout the community.
  • Implement short term or long-term peer-to-peer education / youth leadership / community education programs which may include: recruit and retain an ample number of participants who are representative of the diversity of the community for the various programs; provide quality education, resources and support to create a safe space that has high warmth, high expectations, and high structure; train participants to be sexual health educators to peers and provide outreach within their schools and community; train participants and interns to facilitate workshops and presentations to the community, youth, adults, and health care providers; co-present and generate teaching opportunities for youth educators, interns and volunteers. coordinate the transportation of youth to meet program objectives.
  • Develop and provide trainings for parents, community members, youth service providers, health care providers, teachers and others on sex education topics.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of community needs regarding sexual health education and healthcare services.
  • Coordinate and implement engagement, outreach and special events based on community needs.
  • Build and maintain strong community networks and partnerships.
  • Support the evaluation and quality assurance process for the programs by collecting and entering accurate data into the database systems; provide data and narrative for progress reports based on individual work plan.
  • Maintain fidelity to various curricula and program models, when applicable. Ensure that all education and outreach materials have been approved and follow the department/agency policies and procedures.
  • Create and adapt curriculum, lessons and lesson materials for education and training programs.
  • Communicate frequently and promptly with managers, co-workers and interns to assess and plan curriculum delivery and events, and to respond to health and sexuality education and outreach needs.
  • As scheduling and funding streams allow, assist other members of the Education team.
  • Coordinate with assigned Health Center managers and their teams to share external resources, stay abreast of PPCW services, and coordinate community engagement / partnership efforts.
  • Answer questions about and refer to sexual and reproductive healthcare services, including Planned Parenthood health services. Respond to requests for distribution of outreach and education materials.
  • Represent PPCW at local and regional events, meetings and coalitions, as scheduling allows.
  • Assist in training of interns, and provide functional and technical support for volunteers.
  • Complete training and/or certification requirements for program implementation; such required training will be facilitated or paid for by PPCW and will occur during paid time.
  • Attend, contribute to, and facilitate team meetings.
  • Adhere to and help to inform agency's policies and procedures
  • May be required to work hours beyond typical office hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Required to travel widely within the PPCW service region. PPCW compensates staff for travel time and mileage reimbursement if it meets PPCW / Union contract requirements.
