ELECTIVE INSTRUCTOR - ARTS

Objective and Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Principal, the Arts Elective Instructor provides instruction to students in digital arts, painting, drawing, or studio arts. The Instructor will assist in preparing elementary and secondary students to develop basic skills and experiences. Elective Instructors will assist teachers in contributing to the aesthetic growth and development of children. Elective Instructors must provide an exceptional educational program for pupils in grades TK-8.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Believe that all students have the inherent talents and abilities to be successful in college and career;
● Teach the physical skills, foster the intellectual habits, and cultivate the character traits needed for our students to thrive in all arts pursuits;
● Contribute to the design of a comprehensive curriculum that will enable student growth and provide the foundation for skill mastery;
● Utilize up-to-date research to plan, prepare, and implement lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and differentiate teaching based on the diverse and individual needs of all students;

● Model and teach the values of Scholarship Prep;
● Implement behavior management techniques to create a nurturing, safe, and structured learning environment;
● Maintain high expectations for students’ achievement and conduct;
● Develop and administer a variety of assessments to measure students’ growth towards goals and monitor student mastery;
● Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, and community members;
● Communicate and collaborate professionally with teammates, parents, and the school community; and
● Supervise after school extracurricular activities (if available); and
● Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
● Previous experience working with children/students;
● Areas of expertise should include one or more of the following areas: dance, digital arts, painting, drawing, studio arts, speech and debate, drama; and

● Credential desired, but not required.

Physical Abilities:
Frequent sitting, standing or walking much of the time with some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and climbing stairs. Use of hands, wrists, and arms; Running; Seeing to monitor student activities and behavior; Hearing and speaking at normal levels to exchange information. Frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment:
This position works in a variety of settings including indoor, outdoor work environments.
May experience seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions well as odors, dust, moderate noise level.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
