Job Description:
We are looking for an Engineering Designer to develop and design sheet metal components and assemblies associated with commercial restaurant equipment. The ideal candidate will require to have a proficiency level knowledge of CAD programs. Additionally, the designer will be responsible for complying with requirements defined in the company’s policies and procedures through sound priorities of safety, quality, and delivery.
Key role and responsibilities:
· Create and modify 2D/3D drawings for internal and external customers using CAD programs such as AutoCAD Inventor and/or Solidworks.
· Knowledgeable and demonstrate the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to design parts for internal and/or external customers.
· Create and develop BOMs from drawings
· Collaborate with production employees to identify and address design errors effecting form, fit, and function.
· Initiate and create new and continuously improve existing designs of products to reduce costs, increase process efficiency, and eliminate waste.
· Comply with company’s and industry standards with focus on safety and quality in design effort.
· Must be an independent thinker to solve design challenges with minimal input from management
· Communicate effectively to coworkers and management any alternatives of building, producing products, and processes to achieve desirable results.
· Possess analytical proficiency is essential to derive, convert, manipulate data and dimensions as necessary.
· Strong adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, and documents.
Education/experience requirements:
· Associate Degree in Mechanical Design with 3D Modeling required
· Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design is preferred
· 1-2 years of experience in engineering/product design for manufacturing.
· Proven work experience with 3D modeling software (preferably AutoCAD Inventor and/or Solidworks), experience with sheet metal is a plus.
· Familiarity with FeatureCAM (preferred)
· Demonstrable ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
· Experience with software such as Quickbooks, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel).
· Proven ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
