Job Description :

Bronco Utah Operations is an underground mine that extracts high BTU, low sulfur, bituminous coal by way of continuous miners and is located in central eastern Utah near the town of Emery.

Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of highly skilled engineering staff and provide support to mine superintendents while ensuring that company objectives and goals are met.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate technicians, survey personnel, engineers, scientists or other mine personnel as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical reports for use by mining, engineering, and management personnel.
  • Select or develop mineral location, extraction, and production methods, based on factors such as safety, cost, and deposit characteristics.
  • Prepare schedules, reports, and estimates of the costs involved in developing and operating mines.
  • Design, develop, and implement computer applications for use in mining operations such as mine design, modeling, or mapping or for monitoring mine conditions.
  • Design mining and mineral treatment equipment and machinery in collaboration with other engineering specialists.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity and general understanding of MSHA regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Access and/or other query, database-related software
  • Proficient in Computer aided design CAD software — Autodesk AutoCAD, Carlson SurvCADD, or related software.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) certification or equivalent

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s of Science – Mining, Civil, Mechanical, or Geo-Technical Engineering
  • 5 or more years in an engineering role
  • 3 or more years in the mining industry
  • 1 year or more in a supervisory role

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Graduate degree in Engineering, Earth Resource Management, or mining related field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to don personal protective equipment
  • Comfortable in an underground mining setting

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
