Position Description: Fire Protection Engineer

Fire Protection Engineer providing support to the US Air Force Client at Joint Base Anacostia Bolling in Washington, DC.

• Fully manage the execution of project construction and handover/close out.
• Input project data into Navy or Air Force online systems and software as needed.
• Use the Automated Data Processing (ADP) systems utilized by the 11CES and its customers in support of the requirements of this PWS. Systems include, but is not all inclusive, common engineering systems like AutoCAD and cost estimating systems such as Costworks or e4Clicks.
• Fire Protection Engineer will participate in training provided by the Federal Government for Air Force or Navy specific programs, such as NEXGEN IT (TRIRIGA), whether through training courses or OJT. Data Repository. The Civil Engineer shall store, transmit, evaluate and/or present data generated in support of the 11CES missions.
• Assist in engineering assessments to gather requirements by assisting in site investigation, survey, mapping, or sketches; prepare draft detailed quantities estimates, for improvement projects for real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of engineering for government review.
• Provide support for the development of drawings and work descriptions for government review for use in structure and system maintenance or repair. Including information such as location, material, and dimensions, in a variety of branches of engineering to include such things as floor plans/structures, roadways/parking areas, land contours/drainage patterns, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical and fire systems, etc.
• Develop technical requirements for government review to include draft material estimates/takeoffs from construction drawings and other project documents required for project completion.
• Perform data collection to provide sufficient definition of the requirement to include site investigation reports to verify and note details of existing conditions and requirements to ensure all features are reflected on drawings for government review. Layouts require a high degree of precision and are used to check tolerances, clearances, and dimensions on new facilities/equipment.
• Write Government Scopes of Work for renovation projects and prepare detailed cost estimating for Air Force contracts.

Minimum Qualifications: Fire Protection Engineer

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• 3+ years experience developing plans, solutions and fire protection designs for facility infrastructure projects and systems for US DoD clients
• Demonstrable experience working with US code compliance situations as a Qualified Fire Protection, Fire Protecting Engineering for Facilities

Required Skills: Fire Protection Engineer

• Knowledge of applicable Uniform and International Building Codes, structural limits, and fire protection codes and practices.
• At least three years of experience in comprehensive renovations of administrative, storage, commercial, and apartment living spaces
• Experience doing renovations

Desired Qualifications: Fire Protection Engineer

• Experience working with US military or Department of Defense (DoD)
