Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Director of Employee Services, the Human Resources/Sr Human Resources Generalist assists with administering the employee/labor relations programs and functions (reasonable accommodation requests, disciplinary processes, leave administration, Transitional Work Program, return to work, collective bargaining, workplace concerns and grievances, investigations, workers compensation, unemployment, OPERS Disability Retirement, Long Term Disability).



Duties/Physical Demands:

Under general supervision of the Director of Employee Services, manages Miami University compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements (e.g. AFSCME, FOP), relevant personnel/employment related sections of Ohio Civil Service, Ohio Revised and Administrative Codes, Miami University employment policies and other applicable state/federal regulations.
Manages the disciplinary hearing process; serves as neutral hearing officer as assigned.
Responsible for the American with Disabilities Act compliance (e.g. leading the interactive process for reasonable accommodation requests). Compiles information from the interactive process into an inclusive report and determines reasonable accommodations. Monitors accommodations.
Provides directives and guidance to managers regarding performance, discipline and other personnel and employee relations matters. Developing and conducting manager training on relevant topics.
Conducts and/or leads investigations as assigned Will serve as the backup for leave administration (FMLA, Parental Leave, Article 37 Leave, Personal Leave, Approved Medical Leave), Transitional Work Program, return to work, Workers Compensation, and Unemployment
Develops and maintains statistical data to track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Reviews and analyzes data and recommends proactive solutions to drive effective change.
Develops, owns, and works on special projects as assigned; serves on committees.
All other duties as assigned



Minimum Qualifications:

For the Human Resources Generalist:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field, and a minimum of at least one (1) year of Human Resources experience.
OR
Five (5) years of Human Resources experience with at least three (3) years at the Generalist level.
For the Sr Human Resources Generalist:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field, and a minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources Generalist experience in more than one (1) Human Resources functionality
OR
Seven (7) years of Human Resources experience with at least three (3) years at the Generalist level with experience in more than one (1) Human Resources functionality.



Desired Qualifications:

Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience; PHR, SHRM-CP; working knowledge and understanding of the ADA process, FMLA, Investigations and Labor Relations process; prior experience in the healthcare field and/or legal field.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of related state and federal laws. Strong verbal and written communication skills, advanced level Excel skills. Ability to collaborate and problem-solve solutions. Proven analytical skills and attention to detail.
