ITS Engineering Technician

We are hiring! Atkins seeks an ITS Engineering Technician to join our team in Tallahassee, FL. This role will be responsible for maintaining ITS / Telecommunication Trailers. In addition, the ITS Engineering Technician will perform device installation and maintenance equipment in the field.

Ideal Candidate is expected to maintain, install, and troubleshoot CCTV cameras and Traffic sensors.

How will you contribute to the team?

• Conducts assignments that have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a defined number of variables. Duties usually include the following:
• Performs systems analysis and implementation consulting for external solution implementations.
• Works closely with client, prime and sub-contractors, and outside vendors to effectively plan, deploy and maintain project environment.
• Develops preliminary concepts and/or specifications.
• Reads contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, and regulatory agency manuals.
• Observes ITS related construction work, such as trench excavation, conduit placement, fiber optic and electrical cabling operations, field equipment installation, structure placement, verify or establish network communications, concrete pouring, signalization, and lighting, etc.
• Provides technical support and coordination with the on-site team to solve technical and operational problems.
• Performs other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary

What will you contribute?

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or an ITS-related subject such as Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
• This level may be achieved by candidates with two (2) years’ experience since Bachelor’s or one (1) year since Master’s degree.
• Without a degree, a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience is required in information and communication technologies and/or ITS, such as fiber-optic communication design, video systems engineering, traveler information, electronic payment, computer hardware and software, or traffic control systems.
• Good analytical and communications skills essential, including ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and to understand contract plans and specifications. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook or equivalent email program is desired, as well as the use of Internet and other information processing and storage techniques to support research of alternatives and the definition of design concepts.
• Demonstrated knowledge in the following qualifications:

- Fiber Installation Inspection and OTDR Fiber Testing

- DMS Operation and Testing

- Controller Operation and Testing

- CCTV Installation, Operation and Testing

- MVDS Operations and Testing

- Functional capability working with Existing Communication Equipment and Switches
