Senior System Engineer Position Overview:

We are a privately-owned Cloud & Managed Services Provider located in San Diego, CA established in 2003. We support business clientele throughout Southern California and beyond. We help our clients sustain and grow their technology and communications capabilities, both on premise and via the cloud. The Senior System Engineer serves a critical role as one of our most technical resources and is called upon to collaborate with other engineers and vendors and even take a lead role when needed.

The Senior System Engineer will be responsible for technical sales consultation, solutions architecture, implementations, and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable technical environment both on-premise and in the cloud. The MSP Senior System Engineer will be involved in the project execution management, virtualization technologies, backups, storage, Windows environments, Mac, Linux, switching, firewalls, databases, RMM infrastructure, alerts, monitoring, and IT tickets and detailed documentation. The Senior System Engineer role is a crucial position and will be called upon to resolve issues from the highest technical levels to the basic user support.

Senior System Engineer Job Requirements:

Detailed knowledge of Windows and Mac based systems. Linux is a plus.

Manage and maintain virtualization and cloud environments, storage and virtual infrastructure which includes VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, KVM, Azure, AWS.

Perform security related operations such as risk assessments and remediation with Qualys Vulnerability Management tools, Manage ESET endpoint security and SentinelOne EDR.

Monitor and manage the various network infrastructures including routers, firewalls, switches, and wireless networking. Cisco, Fortinet, Ubiquity, Dell, HP, Meraki experience required. We do not expect you to know it all but we do expect a willingness to jump in and figure it out. You will be exposed to a wide range of technologies.

Actively monitor and troubleshoot systems with in-house RMM tools

Manage and maintain Servers, Active Directory, DHCP and DNS infrastructure

Automate routine system administration tasks using any scripting language

Assist Principal Engineer on a collaborative basis

Follow SOP's for regulatory requirements

Assume a leadership role within and established team of engineers and help desk associates

You will be expected work on help desk issues and interact directly with clientele

Previous MSP experience is a must!

Combination of work from home and in the field. Driving is part of the job. You need to have reliable transportation. Fuel reimbursement paid monthly.

You must be a team player who is also capable of working independently for long periods of time. You will be required to work from a ticketing system, log your work tasks and track your time.

Good written and verbal skills are needed to interface with the human element of this job.

Documentation is vital!
