SUMMARY
Th Finance Manager applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports, budgets, payroll, and administers the agency’s accounting policies and procedures and maintains the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve organization assets and report accurate financial results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not intended to be all-inclusive.)
Responsible for all aspects of payroll preparation with follow-thru to include tax information, garnishments, monthly, quarterly, and annual required reports, and filings.
Creates and is responsible for filing financial monthly submittals for programs and compliance with governmental reporting requirements.
Work collaboratively with other departments to obtain and maintain grant funding by providing accurate financial information that meets or exceeds grant requirements.
Responsible for balancing program budgets, financial statement processing, and cost allocation plan review and updates.
Modifies documents and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures including bank reconciliations and general ledger.
Responsible for preparation and on-site support for annual audit with CPA.
Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for funders, management staff and the board of directors; oversees the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements and ensures their timeliness and accuracy.
Communicates and explains financial concepts to a wide variety of staff levels in an understandable way. Teaches and trains staff regarding common financial principles and best practices.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge and skill required to perform essential functions by attending workshops, conferences, and seminars, continued education and conferring with related agencies and organizations for best practices. Remains up-to-date on legal changes and standards within the laws and industry as they relate to non-profits.
Responsible to ensure that accurate and timely departmental information is provided to internal and external customers and entities.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, county, and other regulatory agency laws, codes or regulations as required.
Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Perform other incidental and related duties as assigned by the CEO including the management of special projects. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or change at any time at the discretion of the CEO.

This position requires excellent abilities to problem solve, prioritize work assignments and work well under pressure and deadlines. This position will interact with customers (internal and external), vendors, community partners, the CEO and members of the Board of Directors. In addition, the position involves responding to and effectively managing many sensitive and confidential matters affecting the operations of the agency. This position is classified as Senior Management and thus requires additional mental efforts involved in performing the job satisfactorily and may require extra hours beyond a regular workweek.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individuals must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check, financial credit report, and drug test. Individuals must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license, liability insurance, insurability under the agency insurance carrier, a dependable vehicle, and a clean driving record.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field plus five years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years experience in nonprofit cost accounting, grant accounting preferred.
Skill in financial planning/budgeting, analysis and management skills.
Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions and implementing recommendations
Knowledge of federal grant funding, allocation and compliance
Knowledge of current legislation, laws and compliance
Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to 25 lbs. and may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
