JOB SUMMARY

Position performs a wide variety of synthetic organic chemistry related duties that include but are not limited to kairomone and semiochemical synthesis.

POSITION DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

PHEROMONE & KAIROMONE, SEMIOCHEMCAL SYNTHESIS:

1. Synthesizes semiochemicals and natural products that possess stereochemistry based insect attractants.

2. Thoroughly document, optimize, troubleshoot, and develop synthetic/purification protocols.

3. Improve on synthetic methods for commercial insect monitoring.

4. Manufacture semiochemicals annually from small to large scale synthesis that is needed for commercial insect monitoring.

5. Maintenance of lab instrumentation and lab equipment. Good record keeping of analysis documentation and following of strict QA/QC requirements and policies is a must.

6. Organize results into reports or presentations that are presented within internal meetings

7. Sample preparation and analysis of intermediates using various instrumentation.

8. Responsible for chemical ordering, safely storing, using, and disposing of chemicals.

9. Responsible for maintaining lab notebooks in a manner which allows others to understand learnings from each experiment; eg., writes interpretations, conclusions and path forward for further experimentation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Ph. D. Synthetic Organic Chemistry or a Masters degree with one to five years related experience and training; strong and proven synthesis skills; extensive analytical chemistry and instrumentation (GC, GC/MS, HPLC, NMR, etc); while a strong synthetic background is required.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY

Position is accountable for the safe, highly organized, accurate and efficient implementation of all duties. Significance will be given to safety, accuracy, and speed and a degree of creativity and professionalism in reporting and communications. The establishment and maintenance of a safe, lean, 5s environment will be a must.

JOB INTERFACE

This position interacts with all Trece departments and at times with collaborators, contractors, and/or selected vendors as directed by the Synthetic Chemistry Laboratory R&D Manager.

TRAVEL

Position at times will be required to travel from time to time to meet with collaborators, attend seminars and training and other as directed or agreed with theSynthetic Chemistry Laboratory R&D Manager.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,253.89 - $75,000.00 per year
