Embedded Software Development Engineer

Responsibilities of Position

· You are fully responsible for all software engineering for the initial design and sustainment of products to support the new product introduction process.

· You will collaborate in the requirements analysis and the software architecture design for projects by working closely with mechanical and electrical groups; and provide high quality estimates of project scope.

· You will develop and document application designs, including concept of operations, that meets detailed capabilities requirements.

· You will design and implement real-time application process flow, including process threading, synchronization, and timing for real-time operating systems.

· You will develop and validate sensor and device serial interfaces, starting from device interface specification documents.

· You will participate in system integration and full system test activities, including support of efforts to identify failure sources.

· You will work with electrical engineering to validate custom electronic boards.

· You will develop, complete, and review appropriate technical documentation (for example simulations, documented analysis, and theory of operations document that explain designs).

· You will develop test strategies and plans for both design verification and validation, as well as production test in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements.

· You will implement real-time signal processing and control algorithms, as specified by the product system engineer.

· You will present and demonstrate system capabilities to visiting customers.

· You will mentor interns and junior engineering personnel

· You will work to ensure successful product launches and transition into production utilizing design for manufacturing and other best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· 7+ years of experience developing control and communications applications on embedded ARM CPUs

· Solid C/C++experience, familiarity with Python and Bash scripting

· Familiarity with embedded development toolchains, including cross-compilation and building firmware packages.

· Experience developing software for multi-processor systems, including multi-threading within both single core and multi-core units, as well as coordinating activities and communication across several processing units.

· Familiarity developing application software for peripheral devices.

· Experience with design and troubleshooting peripheral buses, such as USB2/USB3, CAN, SPI, I2C, RS232/422, LVDS

· Comfortable working in a small team environment, with team members from diverse engineering disciplines.

· Experience with version control systems, preferably git.

· Familiarity working with position, timing, and navigation equipment and radio frequency devices. Understanding of software defined radio technology is an asset.

· Exposure to techniques for signal processing and sensor data acquisition.

· Experience writing user manuals or interface documents.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills with a team orientation

Required Education

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering plus minimum of 7 years direct experience

Additional Requirements:

· Must be a US Person under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to be eligible.

Pay: $131,627.66 - $140,053.80 per year
