Position Overview:
Responsible for structural engineering design development and for preparation of structural engineering construction documents.

General Duties:

· Acquires limited knowledge and develops basic skills.

· Applies prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks.

· Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience.

· Acquires an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Technical Responsibilities:

· Collects data and gathers information or documents.

· Performs standard computations or analysis.

· Prepares drawings and visual aids.

· Observes construction activities.

· Performs basic survey work.

Managerial Responsibilities:

· No managerial responsibilities at this level.

Direction Received:

· Receives close supervision on all aspects of assignments.

Communication Responsibilities:

· Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.

· Interacts with other staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures from an accredited program is required

· Experience with AutoCAD

· Familiar with using Revit Structure and common structural analysis software

· Familiar with International and Residential Building Codes

· Design experience with wood, concrete, steel, and masonry – experience with post-tensioned concrete a plus

· Passionate about the art of engineering and self-motivated

· Able to perform physical field work, including climbing ladders, performing visual observations from afar/rooftops/scaffolding/confined spaces, using precision instruments, etc.

· Ability to work in a team approach environment

· Willing to adapt to different project types and tasks on a daily basis

· Excellent verbal communication and writing skills

· Passionate about the art of engineering and self-motivated

· Previously passed or intend to take Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination; the FE exam must be passed within one year of employment

· Previous engineering internship and/or employment is a plus

Experience: 0+ years

Licensure and Certification: Engineer in Training

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand, walk, sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel objects and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed within an office environment where the noise level is usually quiet to moderate. When work is performed outdoors on construction sites, conditions may vary by client and facility. Adherence to all health and safety requirements within the office, on construction sites is essential.

Salary:
$55,000 - $85,000 based on experience
